About the Role

Pan Care of Florida is seeking a compassionate, dedicated Recovery Specialist to join our behavioral health and recovery services team. In this role, you will serve as a mentor, advocate, and guide for individuals navigating recovery from substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and significant life transitions.

Location: Panama City, FL.

Employment Type: Full-Time | Non-Exempt

What You'll Do
  • Serve as a role model, mentor, and advocate for individuals in recovery to help prevent relapse and promote long‑term success
  • Provide peer support through education, encouragement, and appropriate self‑disclosure of personal recovery experience
  • Support clients in identifying recovery goals, strengths, challenges, and actionable steps toward stability and wellness
  • Assist clients in connecting to health services including prevention care, mental health services, MAT, support groups, and follow‑up care
  • Deliver education to clients and family members regarding substance use disorder (SUD), opioid use disorder (OUD), and recovery‑oriented practices
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated, patient‑centered care
  • Work with the Data Coordinator to ensure accurate documentation, grant reporting, and required deliverables
  • Partner with the Community Health Educator to provide education and outreach in schools and community settings
  • Collaborate with the Project Director on grant initiatives, including occasional local travel during the workday
  • Maintain ethical standards related to confidentiality, boundaries, and professional conduct
  • Participate in safety programs and emergency preparedness activities as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program goals

Required Skills & Competencies
  • Peer mentoring and recovery advocacy
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and education skills
  • Ability to assist clients with goal setting and recovery planning
  • Understanding of substance use disorders, opioid use disorder, and recovery principles
  • Accurate documentation and reporting skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong ethical judgment, confidentiality awareness, and professional boundaries
  • Problem‑solving and resource navigation skills
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Certification or training in peer support, recovery support, or a related field preferred
  • Personal lived experience in recovery from SUD and/or OUD required
  • Previous experience in peer support, recovery coaching, mentoring, or advocacy preferred
  • Experience with documentation, data collection, or grant reporting is a plus
  • Familiarity with community‑based health services and recovery‑oriented systems of care preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work for documentation and reporting
  • Occasional standing and walking during client interactions and community outreach
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. (materials, supplies, outreach equipment)
  • Manual dexterity for typing, data entry, and handling program materials
  • Ability to travel locally for community events, school programs, or grant‑related activities
  • Clear communication abilities for client support and team collaboration
