This position will serve in the Florida Department of Health in Bay County (DOH Bay) Dental Bus Program to provide preventative dental services to children. Responsibilities include oral health assessments, hygiene instruction, sealants, fluoride treatments, educational presentations in schools, case management, and inventory control. The role requires frequent travel to Bay and Gulf Counties.
Responsibilities- Provide preventative dental services and perform oral hygiene instructions, sealants, and fluoride treatments.
- Prepare and teach dental presentations in schools and community settings.
- Enter clinical services into Eaglesoft and HMS; maintain accurate records.
- Assist with orders and inventory control for the Dental Bus Program.
- Assist in case management of children with urgent needs and increase referral to dental homes.
- Travel to schools and other locations on a regular basis; work in fixed dental clinic as needed.
- Attend and participate in staff development, meetings, in‑service training, and disaster‑related duties as directed.
- Maintain timely submission of Employee Activity Report, timesheets, and provide backup support to other dental staff.
- Knowledge of dental hygiene principles, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of dental terminology.
- Skill in operating dental instruments and equipment, and performing dental prophylaxis.
- Ability to use a personal computer and standard software applications.
- Ability to use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
- Ability to educate patients on dental care techniques.
- Ability to operate general office equipment and follow established office procedures.
- Effective communication and professional interaction with parents, students, community members, school administrators, health staff, and teachers.
- Ability to travel, work flexible schedules, and work independently to meet program goals.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Must be willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal hours in emergency or disaster situations.
- Registered Dental Hygienist license (F.S. 466). Dental Radiography certificate.
- Experience applying preventative sealants and working with children.
- Experience working in a school‑based sealant program.
- Experience working with the FLOSS program.
