Responsibilities
Provide high‑quality abdominal, obstetric‑gynecology and small‑parts ultrasound examinations independently, including image acquisition and interpretation of diagnostic, non‑invasive studies of the abdomen, pelvis, pregnancy and small parts.
Assist radiologists during invasive procedures (amniocentesis, thoracentesis, biopsies, endovaginal and endorectal scanning, venous Doppler) while adhering to sterile technique and infection control standards.
Communicate preliminary and “STAT” study results promptly to referring physicians, nursing units and the emergency department to support timely clinical decision‑making.
Maintain a clean, safe and organized ultrasound laboratory, including preparation and sanitization of transducers, management of supplies (gel, cleaners, cidex, syringes) and compliance with OSHA and departmental cleaning policies.
Support departmental operations by scheduling examinations, collaborating with charge technologists, attending meetings and in‑services, and participating in or filling shifts as warranted.
Qualifications- Graduate of an AMA‑approved School of Ultrasound.
- Minimum two years experience in abdominal and obstetric‑gynecology ultrasound; moderate skills in endovaginal and endorectal scanning.
- Registered with ARDMS in Abdomen and OB/Gyne; maintain accreditation through continuous medical education and compliance with ACR standards.
- CPR certification and physical ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; patient handling equipment used as needed.
- Strong communication skills, independent judgment, reliability, and ability to assume leadership in the absence of the coordinator.
Competent level: good judgment, reliability, responsibility, independent thought and action. Extreme flexibility in working hours, on‑call rotation and ability to lift up to 35 pounds or use patient handling equipment when necessary.
