Stanford Athletics is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Coach, Field Hockey. The Assistant Coach works with goalkeepers, assists the Head Coach with defensive principles, coaches the varsity field hockey team, and assists with recruiting, training, practice, team management, budget management, and team travel. This is an on-site, six-month fixed-term position. The role may include participation in summer camp operations, in accordance with institutional and NCAA regulations.
YourResponsibilities Include
- Practice design of GK training sessions, assessment, and individual growth plans for each athlete.
- Assist the Head Coach with defensive principles and defensive unit play.
- Daily coding and video sessions; game day coding/filming.
- Daily team operational tasks including team travel, team meals, equipment, etc.
- Support and facilitate a healthy team culture that supports self-awareness, growth mindset, teamwork, integrity, and competitive excellence.
- Plan and organize team training and practice sessions; use video analysis to provide feedback within NCAA regulations and academic demands.
- Assist with identifying, assessing, and recruiting top student-athletes within NCAA regulations and university admission expectations.
- Help organize visiting teams, recruits, and other parties.
- Participate in department education and activities, including coaches meetings, all-staff meetings, compliance and education sessions.
- Participate in or support alumni outreach, fundraising, and related relationship management activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or designee.
- Bachelor’s degree required. Collegiate or professional coaching experience required;
Division I coaching experience preferred. - 1-3 years of experience coaching field hockey.
- Strong interpersonal skills with student-athletes, peers, and the public.
- Computer literacy with common office applications (Word/Excel, G-Suite), Hudl, or Sports Code.
- Ability to understand and comply with all rules and regulations of Stanford, the ACC, and NCAA.
- Ability to work cooperatively with a variety of staff and personnel within the department, university, and community.
- Coaching soccer experience does not qualify for this position.
This position, along with all DAPER coaches and staff, is responsible for the integrity of Stanford’s intercollegiate athletics program and for the reputation of Stanford University. The role must comply with University policies and procedures, NCAA and ACC rules and regulations.

The expected pay range for this position is $72,000 – $76,000 per annum.
