JOB PURPOSE: Palo Alto Hills Golf & Country Club is seeking energetic and responsible Summer Camp Counselors to support our custom, in-house summer camp program. Camps run Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM over 9–10 weeks during the summer. Counselors are ideally able to commit to one week at a time.

JOB PURPOSE: Palo Alto Hills Golf & Country Club is seeking energetic and responsible Summer Camp Counselors to support our custom, in-house summer camp program. Camps run Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM over 9–10 weeks during the summer. Counselors are ideally able to commit to one week at a time.

Our camps serve children ages 5–14 and feature rotating weekly themes with a geographic focus, giving campers the opportunity to explore different countries, cultures, customs, and foods. Daily programming includes sports, crafts, educational activities, and swimming.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily camp operations and ensure smooth program flow.
  • Supervise, train, mentor, and schedule camp counselors.
  • Plan weekly programming in coordination with department leadership and camp themes.
  • Ensure camper safety and adherence to all club policies, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians during camp hours.
  • Support campers with emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and behavioral guidance when needed.
  • Lead by example by actively participating in activities, including swimming supervision.
  • Conduct daily check-ins with staff and facilitate end-of-day debriefs.
  • Manage attendance, incident reports, and communication logs.
  • Coordinate setup, cleanup, supply inventory, and space readiness.
  • Collaborate with Aquatics, Fitness, Golf, and other departments as needed.
  • Maintain a professional, positive, and solution-oriented presence at all times.
  • Be willing to step in and assist counselors with behavioral or emotional support situations.
Qualifications / Required Knowledge, Skills And Experience
  • Previous experience supervising youth programs, camps, or recreational activities preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and make sound decisions in a dynamic environment.
  • Calm and confident when managing groups and resolving issues.
  • High level of professionalism, reliability, and accountability.
  • Comfortable being physically active throughout the day.
  • Ability to model excellent customer service for members and families.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work all shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
  • Must be able to handle indoor and outdoor conditions.
  • Occasionally works in areas with moving mechanical parts; may come into contact with fumes, open flames, hot and cold surfaces, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Continuous repetitive motions.
  • Work in hot, humid, and noisy environment.
  • Comfortable being in the water daily during swim activities.
  • Ability to lift children when necessary.
  • Must demonstrate sound judgment and a positive attitude.
  • Be prepared to get in the water every day for our in-water swimming portion.
  • Have good judgment and attitude.
  • Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, stand and lift up to 40 pounds.
Licenses and

Special Requirements
  • CPR and First Aid certification encouraged (or willingness to obtain).
  • Teaching credentials or experience teaching elementary and/or middle school is strongly preferred.
About the Offer
  • This is a seasonal part-time non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $25.00 – $32.00 DOE.
  • This position requires a flexible schedule for working evenings, weekends, and holidays as determined by business needs.
  • Benefit package includes:

  • Complimentary meals provided six days per week, excluding designated aerification days.
  • Our premier championship golf course is open for staff to enjoy on select Mondays.
