As a Research Engineer at Augment Code, you’ll sit at the intersection of research and engineering – transforming cutting‑edge ideas into production‑ready systems that redefine how developers build software. You’ll design models that understand entire codebases, create the infrastructure to support large‑scale experiments, and ship innovations that directly power our Context Engine and developer productivity platform.

• Design and implement ML models and algorithms that advance code understanding, code classification, retrieval, and developer productivity.
• Own projects end‑to‑end: from ideation and prototyping to optimization and production deployment.
• Build and maintain research infrastructure, experimentation frameworks, and data pipelines at scale.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to translate research into user‑facing impact.
• Stay up‑to‑date with the latest developments in machine learning, natural language processing, and software engineering research.

• Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related technical field (or equivalent industry experience).
• Deep experience with LLMs, Retrieval Systems, or Post‑Training.
• Strong understanding of modern machine learning techniques (reinforcement learning, transformers, etc).
• Experience with large‑scale data processing, training, and model deployment.
• Proficiency with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, Tensor Flow).

• Contributions to open‑source projects or publications in relevant fields.
• Background in developer tools, IDEs, or software engineering productivity systems.
