Position: Life Science Research Professional 2

Overview

Stanford University is seeking a Life Science Research Professional 2 to perform more complex functions and activities involved in defined research projects, and independently conduct a portion of the research project(s).

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our laboratory to perform technology-driven research in a dynamic and exciting environment. The LSRP2 will join the group of Dr. Sean Bendall at the Stanford Blood Center in the Department of Pathology. The successful candidate will work directly with the PI and a team of senior staff and trainees, be co-authors on published work, and gain bench and management experience in our interdisciplinary group.

The LSRP2 will design and conduct experiments independently and analyze/interpret data on single cell proteomic assays, such as mass cytometry (CyTOF) and multiplexed ion beam imaging (MIBI).

About The Lab

In the lab of Dr. Sean Bendall at Stanford (Dept. of Pathology, Wu-Tsai Neuroscience Institute, Stanford Bio-X Institute, and Stanford Cancer Institute), the goal is to understand mechanisms regulating the development of human systems (embryonic and adult). We explore protein coding genes and pathobiology known to be uniquely human, using pluripotent stem cell biology, hematopoiesis, and immunology with high-content single-cell analysis (CyTOF Mass Cytometry) and imaging (MIBI).

We are creating templates of normal human cellular behavior to decipher roles of protein regulators on cellular specification and the influence of human-specific pathobiology on system remodeling at the single-cell level. We collaborate with expert groups in cancer immunology, stem cell biology, and neuroscience, offering opportunities to learn and grow in research, biotechnology development, and translational applications.

Duties Include
  • Independently conduct a portion of the research project(s). Make recommendations on experimental design and/or research direction to the principal investigator.
  • Independently conduct complex (lab and/or field) experiments to gather data for a portion of a major research project.
