JOB SUMMARY

The Advanced Practice Providers (APP) are members of a collaborative team consisting of Attending Physicians, Fellows, Residents, Nurses, and other support staff. The APP will provide psychiatric mental health services to perinatal patients and routine obstetric care across inpatient and ambulatory domains. The APP will be credentialed to diagnose and prescribe treatment, including medication management and psychotherapy. Experience in women’s health/obstetrics, in particular in the care of perinatal and postpartum patients is preferred.

Nurse Practitioner (NP): The Nurse Practitioner functions under the general Nurse Practitioner Standardized Process Protocol approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IDPC). The NP provides routine care and management of the patient with acute and chronic complaints, in collaboration with the supervising physician and through implementation of standardized procedures. Specific functions pertaining to the Service, Clinic or Department are established by the NP and the supervising physician(s), and approved by the appropriate medical and nursing administrators, the IDPC, and the Stanford Hospital and Clinics (SHC) Medical Executive Board and Board of Directors.

Physician Assistant (PA): The Physician Assistant functions under the general Physician Assistant Role Description approved by the IDPC. Specific functions pertaining to the Service, Clinic or Department are established by the PA and his or her supervising physician(s), and approved by the appropriate medical and nursing administrators, the IDPC, and the SHC Medical Board and Board of Directors.

Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM): The CNM functions under the general CNM Process Protocol approved by the IDPC. The CNM provides routine prenatal and postpartum care to patients with normal prenatal histories and postpartum courses as well as the management of those patients with acute and chronic conditions related to (and during the course of) pregnancy, in collaboration with the physician(s) and through implementation of standardized procedures.
