Rotating - 12 Hour (United States of America). Looking for a Fixed Term (6 months, fully benefited) 0.9 FTE Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Clinical Nurse Specialist) on the inpatient neurosurgery service. The service covers 24 hours a day, seven days per week, including weekends and holidays. It is a collaborative model consisting of APPs and house staff providing care for patients with neurosurgery diagnoses in the ICU and on the floors.
Common diagnoses include, CNS tumors, movement disorders, intracranial hemorrhages, and spine pathology. This position offers the opportunity to be involved in every aspect of neurosurgical care including initial diagnosis, treatment, and preoperative and postoperative care.
- Complete/comprehensive history and physical examination, ordering and interpretation of diagnostic studies, and prescribing appropriate treatments in collaboration with the attending physician.
- Consultation with specialist physicians and other team members regarding findings/changes in patient condition and performing procedures per policy.
- Learning opportunities including teaching on rounds, weekly conferences, monthly staff meetings, and clinical care conferences.
- Adhere to Joint Commission requirements including sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patients’ rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, ongoing education, and adherence to safety and quality programs.
- Perform all duties in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital and communicate using C-I-CARE components for all patient and staff interactions.
- Provide medical services competent to the practitioner s education, training, and experience, under the delegation of a supervising physician; consult or refer any task or problem that exceeds the practitioner s competence.
- Scope of Practice includes: evaluating and treating patients with acute/chronic concerns; obtaining histories and performing physicals; ordering and evaluating diagnostic studies; administering medications per formulary or supervising physician approval; ordering laboratory tests and therapies; performing designated procedures; obtaining informed consent; coordinating admissions/discharges; involvement in investigational studies; assisting in the operating room as directed; recognizing age-specific needs; effective communication with diverse patients and staff;
initiating life-saving actions when needed; coordinating inpatient/outpatient care; collaborating with caregivers and community resources; ensuring compliance with policies; participating in quality improvement; providing patient teaching and counseling.
- Bachelor s degree in Nursing from an accredited university.

PAs hired prior to July 1, 2012 are not subject to this educational requirement. - Graduate of a PA program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc.

Base Pay Scale:
Generally starting at $89.01 - $117.94 per hour. The final salary will be set based on factors including internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a specific wage.
