AboutThe Role
The Workforce Health and Wellness APP team provides comprehensive care to Stanford Health Care employees, addressing occupational injuries, exposures, and preventive wellness needs. This role offers a wide clinical scope—combining musculoskeletal medicine, occupational exposure management, and health promotion within a supportive, multidisciplinary setting.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate and manage work-related injuries, musculoskeletal conditions, and occupational exposures (chemical, biological, environmental).
- Perform minor procedures including wound repair (sutures, Dermabond, Steri-Strips), incision and drainage, and eye examinations.
- Collaborate with nurses, case managers, physical therapists, and the Medical Director to coordinate safe and timely return-to-work care.
- Contribute to Stanford’s ongoing wellness initiatives that emphasize proactive, preventive care for our workforce.
- Apply understanding of workers’ compensation processes and related legal and clinical documentation.
- Current California licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in occupational medicine, urgent care, physical medicine, or a related field.
- Demonstrated skill in musculoskeletal assessment and treatment, procedural proficiency, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational abilities.

Brief OverviewThe Nurse Practitioner (NP) functions under this Nurse Practitioner Job Description approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IDPC). The NP provides routine care for patients with acute and chronic complaints, in collaboration with the supervising physician, and through implementation of standardized procedures. Specific functions pertaining to the Service, Clinic or Department are established by the NP and his/her supervising physician(s), and approved by the appropriate medical and nursing administrators, the IDPC, the Credentials & Privileges Committee, the Stanford Hospital and Clinics (SHC) Medical Executive Committee and the SHC Board Credentials, Policies and Procedures Committee.
QualificationsThis job description covers all classifications for NPs within the organization. All NPs must meet all elements of the Essential Functions, Qualifications, and Supervision. There is a voluntary Career Ladder for NPs who are interested in promotions for clinical expertise and contributions to the institution as well as the profession.
Education Qualifications- Master’s or Doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
