Brief Overview

The Assistant Patient Care Manager assists the Patient Care Manager with clinical management and administrative coordination of a designated patient care unit(s) or service(s). The position supports the Patient Care Manager in achieving the unit(s)' goals and objectives, supervising staff during assigned shifts, and coordinating administrative functions as delegated.

What You Will Do
  • Assist in operational aspects of designated unit(s) while mentoring staff; supervise quality, therapeutic, and cost‑effective patient care.
  • Step in for the Patient Care Manager in administrative/management functions and assume duties during absence.
  • Coordinate and direct unit(s) patient‑care operations for an assigned shift.
  • Facilitate orientation, training, and ongoing staff development; coach, develop, and correct personnel; participate in staff evaluation.
  • Monitor patient‑care processes and outcomes to ensure smooth workflow and desired outcomes.
  • Interpret and communicate philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the unit(s) and organization.
  • Participate in unit goal and program planning, development, and evaluation of programs and special projects.
  • Provide competent and compassionate patient care and assist with unit workload.
  • Act as a liaison to the Patient Care Manager.
Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
Experience Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Contribute to health‑care policy formulation in partnership with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Delegate responsibilities responsibly according to skill level and regulatory guidelines.
  • Develop programs and lead process‑improvement projects.
  • Establish strategic direction and business plans for a functional group.
  • Initiate and implement change conducive to quality and safety of patient care delivery.
  • Provide leadership, influence others, and act as a role model, resource, and mentor.
  • Supervise, coach, mentor, train, and evaluate work results.
  • Use information, stay abreast of technology developments, and support decision‑making in patient care.
  • Maintain knowledge of current theories, principles, and practices in nursing and the health‑care system.
  • Understand laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines governing nursing practice.
  • Apply principles of organization, administration, fiscal and personnel management essential to nursing practice.
  • Grasp current trends in health‑care and hospital system organization to provide clinical management and leadership.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) – State licensure and/or Compact state licensure.

Base Pay Scale

Generally starting at $83.98 – $111.27 per hour. Salary is determined by internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training; the pay scale does not promise a particular wage.
