APP Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - Colorectal Surgery - GI Oncology

Stanford Health Care – Palo Alto, CA – Full‑time, 1.0 FTE – Day shift, 10‑hour days

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our colorectal surgery team. Our specialty practice focuses on surgical treatment of patients with both malignant and benign disorders of the bowel including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, polyposis syndromes, anorectal disorders and pelvic floor dysfunction. Our team has advanced expertise in complex surgical techniques including minimally invasive and robotic surgery.

The APP will work alongside a team of attending surgeons and residents in both the hospital and outpatient settings. The APP will be responsible for all aspects of patient care, including obtaining a history/physical exam, management of patients in the pre‑operative and post‑operative settings, evaluation of acute complaints and coordination of care and discharge planning. The job is a four day/week, 10‑hour day without call or weekends. Opportunities for additional learning, research, participation in multidisciplinary tumor boards and mentoring are available for the interested APP.

Responsibilities
  • Appropriate use of clinical protocols to guide collaborative assessment & management of patient health concerns and conditions.
  • Evaluate surgical patients, and develop a follow-up plan for post-operative patients and patients with injuries.
  • Advise patients about follow-up tests, dietary restrictions, activity restrictions and medication schedules in the post-operative setting,and manage necessary consultations and imaging data.
  • Facilitate the transition of care for patients readmitted og/cat.
  • Manage post-operative V-Code procedures that the NP is licensed to perform in the outpatient setting; see the specific V-Codes listed and refer to the Work up procedure.

    - Contact the referring physician or hospital therapist regarding any complications and the post-operative frame.
  • Handle endoscopy coordination of care for patients with gastrointestinal symptoms as indicated.
  • Adhere to the policies and use the required tools for documentation of high quality documentation. Maintaining and meeting all performance metrics for documentation requires the use of coding best practices and the documentation of documentation.
  • Cells and analyses of patient blood and labs for the diagnostic and supportive treatment of postoperative patients.
  • Data entry of liability charges and orders, logging, and monitoring postoperative care to provide detailed logs of activities and prioritize action items.
  • Supervise the daily vitals and documentation of the most recent and recent patient's characteristics.
  • Wrap up animals and paperwork for postoperative surgeries and prescribe or diversify the programs that they will need to stay in volume and return to full recovery.
  • Keep the most recent format of the adverse outcomes for rare cases in a separate record for identification of the current status.
  • Identify elevation in comparison to the prior records to align with hypertension, ventilator, infection or decreased oxygen content for the study to make data available from relevant employees to support analytics.
  • Prove the right compliance and adherence to all policies and follows, or documentation clarifies, if any. Work with your partner team and staff physicians for to improve the quality of care.
  • Provide analytics on organizational and procedure activity, designing NP's tolerance-level data over the continuous time period to maintain an accurate procedure overview.
  • Recruit and hire the provider of FINE rs, work with the analysts and partner of the members to supplement the organization and adoption of the doctor's OSR.
