Position Overview

We are seeking a Staff QA Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and performance of our products across various platforms, including mobile, cloud, hardware, and AI. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to define and execute robust testing strategies, with a focus on performance and continuous improvement. This position requires a deep technical understanding of QA processes, a passion for quality, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

This position will require daily hands‑on work with Bright

AI custom hardware devices and systems that will not accommodate remote work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive QA strategies to ensure high‑quality delivery across multiple technologies (mobile, cloud, AI, hardware).
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and customer success teams to understand requirements and define testing needs.
  • Coordinate and leverage offshore QA resources, meetings with them regularly, assigning responsibilities and reviewing results.
  • Lead hands‑on testing efforts, including test planning, execution, and reporting, to ensure thorough test coverage and high‑quality products.
  • Responsible for designing and executing verification tests as releases are promoted to staging and production.
  • Delivery high quality timely reports and metrics to the engineering leadership with accurate assessments of product quality, risks, and readiness for release.
  • Where appropriate, design and implement automation frameworks and tools to improve test efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Use Jira to track features that require testing and develop test plans, document clear bugs when found and verify that bugs are resolved.
  • Triage issues identified by customer support or product and convert them.
  • Perform manual and automated testing for new features, performance, security, and regression.
  • Monitor and improve QA processes and methodologies to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Participate in code and specifications reviews and contribute to improving overall product quality and testability.
  • Analyze test results and provide actionable feedback to the development team.
  • Stay up‑to‑date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in QA.
  • Contribute to retrospectives and postmortems to refine the SDLC, increasing velocity while managing risk.
  • Drive a quality‑focused release sign off process and ensure both high velocity, timely releases as well as ensuring quality for our customers.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, quality, and innovation within the team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (advanced degree a plus).
  • 5-7 years of experience in QA, with expertise in automated and manual testing across multiple platforms (mobile, cloud, hardware, AI).
  • Strong experience with QA tools, automation frameworks, and agile methodologies.
  • Hands‑on experience designing and implementing automated test scripts using tools like Playwright, Selenium, Appium, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how QA integrates into the development lifecycle.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues, collect evidence, and perform root‑cause analysis.
  • Proficient with technical tools used to installing software, images and firmware on custom hardware devices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams.
  • Passion for quality, attention to detail, and problem‑solving.
