DAPER is searching for an organized, engaging, customer-focused, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as the Human Resources Generalist (HRG). Reporting to the Assistant Director, Human Resources Operations, the Human Resources Generalist provides direct operational and administrative HR support to multiple DAPER departments. This role partners closely with the HR team to implement, communicate, and serve as a resource for human resources policies, procedures, and practices.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently and collaboratively, can manage multiple priorities and projects, respond with urgency, is highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment. This position is on-site and based at the Stanford Campus, Stanford, CA.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support for key HR processes, including time and attendance, compensation changes, onboarding, and offboarding.
  • Coordinate HRIS data activities, including initiating transactions and generating reports to support compliance, audits, and metrics tracking.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all data and act as the point of contact for promptly identifying and resolving payroll-related issues.
  • Assist with and explain applicable workers’ compensation, disability and leave procedures, and generate related correspondence; update and maintain reports to track leaves and workers’ compensation documentation.
  • Maintain personnel and human resources-related files and information, including driver authorizations and I-9 forms.
  • Provide support to contingent employee hiring, including offer letters, background checks, and contingent orientation.
  • Coordinate the recruitment process, including job postings, interview scheduling, and applicant disposition in partnership with hiring managers and HR staff.
  • Input and update labor schedules for new hires as needed.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for DAPER staff by providing clear guidance on HR policies, procedures, and navigation questions (e.g., "how to" and "where to find" information).
  • Address and resolve routine inquiries and issues; escape complex matters to the Assistant Director or Director as appropriate.
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR team.
  • Assist the HR team in identifying department needs, recommending changes, and implementing improvements.
  • Maintain standards of strict confidentiality with respect to all HR matters and documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to foster a positive work environment and ensure effective communication.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and five or more years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, follow-through, critical thinking, analytical skills, and attention to detail. Ability to learn and apply general human resources policies using problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively handle highly sensitive and personal information with sound judgment, tact, and discretion.
