Position Overview
A prestigious hospital in Palo Alto, CA is seeking compassionate and service-oriented Hospital Navigators to join its Administrative Customer Navigation team. This non-clinical role blends concierge-level service with patient advocacy, supporting individuals both in person and over the phone throughout their care journey.
Hospital Navigators play a critical role in enhancing patient experience, ensuring clear communication, and maintaining a welcoming, supportive environment across multiple hospital entry points and care settings.
Assignment Details
- Pay Rate: $30.00 per hour
- Openings: 2
- Duration: 13-week contract
- End Date: May 2, 2026
- Department: Administrative Customer Navigation
- Location: Palo Alto, California
- Full-Time: Monday–Friday, 11:30 AM – 8:00 PM
- Part-Time: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM
- Serve as the primary, non-clinical point of contact for patients, families, and visitors
- Greet and assist guests entering hospital and clinic areas with professionalism and empathy
- Provide clear verbal and written instructions, way finding support, and in-person escorts
- Verify and confirm appointment times and locations
- Schedule and coordinate physician appointments during inpatient and outpatient stays
- Assist patients and families in navigating the hospital's systems, services, and departments
- Communicate patient and guest concerns to appropriate departments and document interactions as required
- Provide emotional support while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
- Respond calmly to injured individuals or escalating situations, engaging clinical staff or security when necessary
- Coordinate transportation information, including campus shuttle services
- Assist with concierge services such as community resources, lodging, and transportation
- Manage site-specific navigation needs (ED, SAU, ASC, fountain entrance) in partnership with leadership
- Guide and support five (5) or more volunteers
- Conduct courtesy visits, deliver guest service amenities, and respond to service inquiries
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 1+ year of experience in a healthcare setting (hospital, clinic, dental office, nursing facility, etc.), or
- Completion of a patient or customer navigation certification program, or
- 2+ years of customer service experience in a non-healthcare industry (hospitality, concierge, banking, public relations, etc.)
