Overview

The Head of Delivery Systems for Radiation Oncology Solutions (ROS) is responsible for specific external beam delivery system products. This role manages their respective portfolio and product(s), solution(s), and a department of individual Product Managers. This role oversees concept, business case development, and R&D partnership through commercialization and end-of-life for their product(s). Acting as the voice of the customer and market, the position aligns innovation priorities with business objectives, clinical value, and financial performance.

The leader will partner cross-functionally with R&D, Marketing, Sales, Regulatory, and Operations to deliver differentiated solutions that advance cancer care, strengthen Varian’s position in the oncology ecosystem, and drive sustainable business results.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Product Lifecycle Management
    • Oversees full lifecycle management of assigned product and product portfolio, including new product introductions, design input, enhancements, and product retirements
    • Lead business case development and value proposition design for assigned product(s)
    • Partner with R&D to ensure product design and requirements align with clinical and customer needs, regulatory requirements, and cost efficiency
  • Commercial Alignment & Customer Focus
    • Serve as the voice of customer with a deep understanding of clinical workflows, unmet needs, and competitive dynamics
    • Collaborate with regional marketing and sales teams to translate product strategy into commercial success
    • Support customer engagements, key opinion leader (KOL) partnerships, and strategic collaborations
  • Financial & Business Impact
    • Drive profitable growth and market share expansion of assigned product(s)
    • Partner with Finance to set performance targets, monitor KPIs, and deliver against annual and long-range business plans
  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, Life Sciences, Business Administration, or related field required;
      PhD or advanced technical degree preferred
    • Progressive leadership experience in product management, marketing, or business leadership within healthcare technology, ideally in medical devices or oncology; experience in clinical radiation oncology preferred
    • Demonstrated success leading global product portfolios and/or large clinical operations, including multidisciplinary cross-functional teams
    • Track record of launching complex products/solutions and achieving strong commercial outcomes
  • Competencies
    • Strategic thinking with strong understanding of clinical radiation oncology and business operations
    • Deep understanding of oncology workflows, healthcare markets, and regulatory landscapes
    • Exceptional leadership skills with ability to inspire, influence, and collaborate across organizational boundaries
    • Strong analytical, financial, and decision-making skills; proven ability to manage investment trade-offs
    • Excellent communication and execution presentation skills, capable of engaging C-suite stakeholders, clinicians, and internal leadership
