Rotating - 08 Hour (United States of America) Job Description Summary

Patient Transport provides exceptional, compassionate patient care, ensuring patient comfort and safety by assisting in their movement within the hospital while being a friendly, helpful connection to the patient during their time of need.

A Brief OverviewUnder the direction and supervision of the Patient Transport Supervisor, with the support and with guidance of the Transport Shift Team Leader, the hospital Transporter is based in the Express Services Department and assists the hospital in provision of care by performing transporting duties in the following areas:
Inpatient Nursing Units, Emergency Department, Outpatient Clinics, Admitting and other departments as directed. The Transporter recognizes and addresses age-appropriate needs when caring for patients. He/she also performs equipment cleaning functions as assigned.

What you will do- Adheres to the standards, policies and procedures of the Hospital, following safety guidelines for self, patients, visitors and other employees
- Communicates effectively in a clear, concise manner
- Meets work agreements and responsibilities
- Responds to paging from the Transport Tracking or other designated system executes system tasking from the in accordance with prescribed procedures to ensure the efficient, safe and timely delivery of patients throughout the facility
- Transports patients safely in a manner that complies with established Hospital guidelines

Skills and Abilities
- Ability and willingness to follow instructions, and to accept and use constructive criticism
- Ability to be flexible in assignment and able to work different shifts if required
- Ability to demonstrate customer service skills in interactions with all patients, families and staff, including high volume and stressful situations
- Ability to maintain professional behavior and appearance
- Ability to maneuver beds, wheelchairs, stretchers, and other equipment as needed
- Ability to problem-solve tasking effectively using appropriate resources while maintaining workflow productivity
- Ability to provide appropriate care based on the needs of the individual patients taking into consideration age, developmental stage, culture, and developmental issues
- Ability to provide care as needed and as described in department policies and procedures
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English effectively at a level appropriate for the job
- Knowledge of facility layout, clinic locations and room numbering system for efficient transport
- Knowledge of hospital and safety code measures during the transport of patients
