Responsibilities- The Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and management of the daily operations and activities of the assigned Pharmacy area. Establishes the process for effective pharmacy operations including dispensing and distribution, and monitoring, and compliance with applicable State Board of Pharmacy regulations. Performs all functions related to managing the day-to-day operations, scheduling and workflows for both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Leads, directs, coaches and evaluates employees in the performance of operational and clinical functions, standard methodologies and best practices.
Ensure the quality, integrity of processes and operational efficiency. Meets and performs all activities associated with the supervision of people. - Essential Functions include supervising day-to-day drug distribution and compounding activities, assisting in planning, development, implementation and evaluation of daily operations of the assigned pharmacy areas.
- Serves as a role model and mentor, and assists with unit workload performing the duties of a clinical pharmacist.
- Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of Departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and ensures the compliance of the department Policies/Procedures, SOPs, and correct record keeping.
- Oversees and assist the training of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, students and residents in the assigned pharmacy areas.
- Assists in budget adherence and performs special projects as assigned.
- Evaluates and conducts employee performance reviews.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a School of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education.
Experience: Completion of a PGY-2 Residency program, OR completion of a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Pediatric program OR PGY-1 and 1 year of related hospital experience OR Five (5) years of related hospital experience
License/Certification- RQI Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support
- or Basic Life Support by American Heart Association (AHA)
- RQI Healthcare Provider Pediatric Advanced Life Support
- or Pediatric Advanced Life Support by American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered Pharmacist by California Board of Pharmacy
- Ability to supervise, coach, mentor, train, and evaluate work results
- Ability to work effectively both as a team player and leader
- Ability to work with devices, information systems, automated and technical equipment utilized in pharmacy
- Knowledge of influence of patient's age, sex, concomitant disease states, concurrent drug therapy, foods and diagnostic procedures on drug activity and disposition
- Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility
- Knowledge of Medical terminology and abbreviations; pharmacology and pharmacological nomenclature; medical therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, and disease states
- Knowledge of methods and procedures involved in proper handling and storing of pharmaceutical supplies
