Financial Analyst
Section Partners is hiring an Analyst to join our deal team. The Analyst will be an integral member of our investment team and will be involved with dealsourcing, diligence, analysis, research, modeling, and deal execution. Additional responsibilities may include supporting portfolio operations. We are seeking self-starters with a strong interest in venture capital and financial markets, a passion for technology, and an eagerness to learn.
Strong analytical skills, relevant prior work experience and the ability to think critically are paramount. Demonstrated expertise in financial modeling and a thorough command of financial statements are required. The Analyst role provides significant exposure, hands-on mentorship, and opportunities for growth in a dynamic and entrepreneurial team environment. As part of the recruiting process, candidates will be evaluated on their verbal, written and analytical skills.
Our team works in the office in Palo Alto, California most weekdays. Compensation will consist of a base salary and a performance-based bonus. We offer a competitive benefits package that includes perks designed to support the well-being and work-life balance of our team members.
- Support all phases of the deal cycle including origination, execution, and post-investment portfolio operations
- Perform due diligence on venture-backed, late-stage technology companies
- Prepare and maintain financial and valuation models
- Create investment memos and other presentation materials
- Support sourcing efforts and maintain internal deal database
- Develop industry-specific expertise to enhance analysis and diligence
- Create analyses on our portfolio and the broader market
- Work on projects in operations, fundraising, marketing and events
- Minimum 1+ year relevant work experience in finance, investing, banking and/or technology
- Experience building valuation models and analyzing financial statements
- Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in STEM
- Passion for technology and financial markets
- Analytical, detail-oriented, proactive, and organized
- Ability to work independently
- Conscientious, curious and assertive
- Strong written, communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Pitch Book, and Google Workspace
- Authorized to work permanently in the U.S.
