Engineering Technician, Thermal Systems

What to Expect

The Tesla Energy team is searching for a strong, versatile technician, capable of working in a high paced environment on residential and industrial thermal products. This role is very hands-on where technicians personally assemble and disassemble electro-mechanical components, build test fixtures, and execute tests. A successful candidate for this role must have a passion to learn and develop new skills. All team members collaborate to develop and implement effective solutions quickly.

• Build electrical and mechanical test samples for engineering teams involving refrigerant and coolant systems
• Troubleshoot electronics subsystem firmware/hardware issues
• Run tests and record test data
• Build and repair LV and HV wire harnesses and cables
• Assist with testing at in-house or local contract laboratories
• Build/repair temporary grid connected and islanded microgrids for testing
• Construct and debug test fixtures

• Minimum 3 years  experience in R&D electronics environment
• Strong understanding of engineering and reliability fundamentals
• Machine shop and electrical prototyping skills
• Great mechanical fabrication and soldering skills
• Highly knowledgeable in HV/LV electronic systems
• Strong troubleshooting skills to the component level on electronic modules
• Experience with HV battery systems highly desired

Expected Compensation

$24.40 - $50.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
