What to Expect
The Tesla Sensing Team is looking for a Systems Engineer ing lead with specific expertise in RF GNSS based navigation systems. The candidate will be responsible for creating performance and quality metrics related to GNSS receiver performance and applying these metrics to a fleet of vehicles and robots worldwide. The candidate will be responsible for developing requirements for future GNSS systems based on cross-functional alignment and for validating that the performance requirements are met or exceeded for future systems.
The candidate should have a strong background in developing or integrating practical GNSS systems along with a deep theoretical understanding of GNSS and navigation system s as a whole. A successful candidate should have a strong background in using and developing Python codebases, with an emphasis on developing and using data analysis and collection tools.
An integral portion of this role is to support and lead debugging efforts related to GNSS systems. The candidate must be willing to extract useful information from log files, telemetry services, and auxiliary sources of data to identify and help fix complex failure modes. Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding modern C++ code is a preferred qualification to assist in this debugging.
The candidate will be responsible for managing the relationship with 3rd party suppliers related to GNSS specific hardware and software. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for driving internal line trials and tests of new components or architecture to validate the performance of the GNSS system.
What You'll Do- Develop and implement performance metrics for GNSS receivers relative to autonomous vehicles and robots
- Lead cross-functional activities to capture future system performance requirements for GNSS systems
- Lead debugging and triage efforts to identify and fix problems as discovered in the field
- Work with the Global Supply Chain team to handle supply chain disruptions, replacement parts, or multiple source requirements
