Job Description & How to Apply Below
We’re working with an early‑stage, well‑funded robotics company developing advanced humanoid systems. They’re focused on taking cutting‑edge robotic platforms from prototype to industrial‑ready products, with a strong emphasis on hands‑on engineering, rapid iteration, and real‑world testing. The team operates in a highly collaborative, lab‑first environment and is building core mechanical, electrical, and control systems that will scale into production.
Responsibilities- Design and validate observers, estimators, and control algorithms for motor drives, actuators, and robotic subsystems.
- Model closed‑loop systems and simulate dynamics in MATLAB/Simulink or Python.
- Bring up, characterize, and debug sensors, encoders, and power‑stage electronics.
- Develop automated test routines for dynamic response characterization, torque linearity, thermal behaviour, and efficiency mapping (motor and actuator dynamo meters).
- Integrate high‑speed telemetry, logging, and system‑ for control verification and diagnostics.
- Work cross‑functionally with mechanical, software, and robotics teams to integrate actuators into manipulators, end‑effectors, and mobile platforms.
- Drive continuous improvements in control robustness, stability margins, safety behaviour, and performance.
- MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Controls, Robotics, or a related field.
- 3+ years hands‑on experience implementing real‑time motor control (FOC, dq, field weakening, loop tuning).
- Strong foundation in classical and state‑space control design, estimation, and system identification.
- Familiarity with DSP concepts, frequency‑domain analysis, and digital control implementation.
- Experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, encoders, current sensors) and hardware bring‑up.
- Proficiency with Python and MATLAB for analysis and control design.
- Experience working with motors, actuators, or force/torque sensors in real hardware systems.
- Clear communication skills and ability to operate in fast‑paced, cross‑disciplinary environments.
