Sr. Piano and Violin Instructor in Palo Alto, Fremont and San Jose, California will serve as a senior faculty member at Ensemble Music Schools responsible to teach individual piano and violin lessons for students of varying levels (beginner to advanced). Sr. Piano and Violin Instructor will ensure high-quality service delivery to students and smooth administrative functioning of the Piano and Violin Departments.
Sr. Piano and Violin Instructor will determine student goals and objectives and discuss lesson details with them before committing to a plan; structure individual lessons based on student preferences and goals; teach music theory; help students sharpen their sight-reading, memorizing, and improvising techniques; provide students with appropriate materials and resources; show up on time for scheduled practice sessions, recitals, competitions, and other events;
prepare students for exams, recitals, concerts, and other events; motivate students, especially when they are struggling and progress is slow; and provide constructive feedback and adjusting lessons as required.
- Provide expert music instruction to individuals and groups of students, including demonstrating the playing of the piano and violin in lessons and playing with the student;
- Manage studio and group classes;
Discuss the details of the lesson with the students beforehand; - Teach the student music theory and music fundamentals;
- Explain to the students the importance of proper posture while playing any musical instrument;
- Assess the student’s performance and provide feedback;
Record the student's music and note the improvement areas;
Encourage the student to listen to their recordings; - Prepare students to play piano and violin in front of a live audience;
- Determine the skill level of each student;
Pay extra attention to struggling students; and - Foster a positive learning environment;
Establish a good rapport with students and families, encouraging open discussion;
Communicate efficiently with the students.
- Master’s degree or its equivalent in music, music performance, music pedagogy, piano or violin performance, music education or a related music field;
- Demonstrated experience as a Piano and/or Violin Instructor or similar position teaching private piano or violin lessons to students of various ages and skill levels, including novice/beginner level school-aged students;
- Experience teaching piano or violin and/or music theory lessons in a group setting;
- Experience creating and implementing piano lesson plans; and
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Full-time (35 hours/week); position is located at 4000 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto, CA (1 day/week);
1972 Driscoll Rd, Fremont (2 days/week); 1299 Water Lily Way, San Jose, CA (3 days/week). Salary is $47/hour. Interested applicants should apply on-line at No phone calls please.
