Under general direction, assist in preparing educational materials; may tutor or assist with instruction of individual students or groups of students under guidelines and supervision provided by Classroom Teacher.

• Assist the Classroom Teacher in planning course of study and specific lesson plans.
• May tutor individual students or groups of students under the guidance of the Classroom Teacher.
• Supervise individual students or small groups of students in practice activities such as math and spelling drills.
• Supervise students at assemblies and programs or during trips.
• Perform auditory and visual monitoring of students both inside the classroom and during outside activities.
• Assist students in reviewing homework assignments and test results.
• Prepare instructional and visual aids including posters, charts and stencils.
• Arrange for and operate audiovisual equipment.
• Order textbooks and supplies and maintain an inventory of essential items.
• May attend meetings relating to curriculum content or student-related problems.
• Instruct and plan learning activities under the guidance of the Classroom Teacher.
• Express oneself clearly, orally and in writing.
• Supervise large groups of students.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• With appropriate training, may be required to provide First Aid/CPR.
• Deal effectively with a wide variety of personalities and situations requiring tact, judgment and poise.

• A.A. degree or equivalent required; courses in Psychology, Child Growth and Development or a closely related field preferred.
• Satisfactory work history.
• Successful experience demonstrating tact, courtesy, positive attitude and maintaining cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
