Gideon Hausner Jewish Day School seeks a skilled, thoughtful, and collaborative educator to serve as a Math Subject Area Specialist for grades 5–8. This role is ideal for a teacher who believes that mathematics learning should be conceptual, engaging, challenging, and meaningful, and who designs learning experiences that invite students to think deeply, collaborate, and apply their understanding in authentic ways.

The successful candidate will teach multiple daily math classes in grades 5–8, working with students across a range of levels. Candidates should be knowledgeable about Common Core Math Standards and experienced teaching middle school mathematics, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Geometry concepts as appropriate. The Upper School Math Teacher will work closely with colleagues to deliver high-quality, standards-based instruction that emphasizes conceptual understanding, problem solving, and mathematical thinking.

This educator will also collaborate with faculty and academic leadership to ensure alignment and consistency across grade levels.

Responsibilities Include
  • Teach multiple sections of math in grades 5–8.
  • Design and implement engaging, conceptually rich math lessons aligned with school standards and scope and sequence.
  • Collaborate with other math teachers to support coherence across grade levels and courses.
  • Review student work and assessment data to inform instruction and support student growth.
  • Communicate regularly with students and families about progress and expectations.
  • Participate actively in faculty meetings, grade-level teams, and professional learning opportunities.
  • Take part in school events such as Open House, Back to School Night, and other community programs.
