DescriptionGideon Hausner Jewish Day School seeks a skilled, thoughtful, and collaborative educator to serve as an Upper School STEM Teacher for grades 5–8. This role focuses on science, technology, and engineering learning through inquiry-based, project-based, and interdisciplinary instruction.

- Conceptual understanding and scientific reasoning

- Familiarity with Next Generation Science Standards and interdisciplinary STEM frameworks

- Experience designing project-based, inquiry-driven learning experiences
- Ability to differentiate instruction to support a range of learners
- Strong classroom management grounded in relationships, clarity, and consistency
- Experience with Vex Robotics, coding experience, or an engineering background is a plus
- Commitment to collaboration with colleagues and clear communication with families
- Reflective practice and openness to feedback and professional growth
- Comfort using educational technology, including Google Suite and classroom learning tools
- Teach multiple sections of STEM courses in grades 5–8
- Design and implement engaging, inquiry-based, and project-driven STEM units
- Collaborate with STEM colleagues to support coherence across grade levels
- Work with grade-level teams to integrate learning across disciplines when appropriate
- Review student work and assessment data to inform instruction and support growth
- Serve as an Upper School advisor supporting students’ academic and social development
- Develop and teach an Upper School elective during the school year
- Communicate regularly with students and families about progress and expectations
- Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional learning, and school events
- Take part in school programs such as Open House and Back to School Night
- Accompany students on an annual overnight field trip
- Fulfill other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Undergraduate degree or at least 24 semester units in science, technology, engineering, or a closely related field
- Prior middle school teaching experience preferred
- Valid teaching credential preferred
- Master’s degree in a related field preferred
- Competitive salary range: $85,000-$105,000 annually, dependent on experience
