Instructional Assistant Behavior Support

Responsibilities
  • Under the general supervision of the Behavior Services Manager, provide school personnel with behavior support/coaching on student‑specific behavioral interventions and/or behavioral crisis support.
  • Assist teachers and other personnel by modeling instructional programming and behavior‑management strategies based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
  • Maintain and monitor the organization and completeness of individual student databases, ensuring appropriate data entry and progress on specific targets are updated in a timely manner.
  • With assistance from the Behavior Specialist/Behavior Services Manager, provide initial or ongoing training to school personnel on student‑specific behavioral procedures identified by the overseeing Behavior Specialist.
  • Assist with the implementation of assessments and development of appropriate programming or behavioral plans.
  • Recognize and intervene during behavioral crises involving aggressive and/or dangerous behaviors to maintain safety of school personnel and students by implementing behavior intervention plans or District‑approved emergency interventions.
  • Coach school personnel and assist in the documentation of behavior incidents and interventions.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience working with students in an organized setting, including one year experience working with special education students preferred.
  • Valid California Driver License and reliable transportation for travel between sites.
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis principles and behavior‑management strategies.
