The Department of Political Science at Stanford University seeks candidates for a senior appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The preferred area of specialty is American Politics. Applicants must have demonstrated the ability to maintain a world‑class research program and commit to effective teaching and mentoring. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in a related field and will be expected to teach and advise students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

The term of appointment is expected to begin on September 1, 2026.

  • Teaching and research statement (no more than three single‑spaced pages)
  • Teaching evaluations

Salary range for academic year 2025‑26:
Associate Professor: $180,250 – $226,600
Professor: $257,500 – $360,500
Pay will be determined based on qualifications, budget, and internal equity.
