What You Will Do
  • Scope of responsibilities includes SHC and LPCH. The Sourcing Specialist supports Category Management and Value Based Selection (VBS) for medical supplies, non-medical supplies, and purchased services, focusing on best value and Total Cost of Ownership.
  • Work within the Non-Labor Spend (NLS) reduction and VBS frameworks to achieve Category Management objectives with optimal balance of quality, service, availability and value.
  • Negotiate, standardize, consolidate and contract administer for all departments at SHC and LPCH; negotiate and manage contracts for medical products, equipment and related services, including market review, benchmarking and supplier selection; ensure contract compliance with pricing and service levels.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director Category Management & VBS, Sourcing Director, and Administrative Director of Supply Chain to maintain balance of quality, service, availability and value.

What You Will Do (continued)
  • Assist with monitoring supplier performance by developing measurement tools and checking references; work with Senior Buyers to ensure standardization compliance.
  • Interface with vendors regarding sourcing, pricing and related issues; manage information using manual or electronic systems.
  • Issue bids, requests for information and requests for products; analyze and build ongoing relationships with suppliers.
  • Monitor compliance to product standardization and vendor performance; report findings to Purchasing Manager.
  • Negotiate with vendors to ensure competitive pricing and contract or pricing agreement compliance with SHC and LPCH guidelines.
  • Place orders and communicate product delivery and pricing information; coordinate changes in purchase orders with vendors in collaboration with Senior Buyers.
  • Process purchase requisitions (electronic, department-specific and general); provide expertise in negotiating standard price-per-unit contracts.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction strategies; work with Category Managers and VBS Project Managers to support cost reduction efforts.
  • Assist in managing catalog and contracts information within Master Data Management; support Value Based Selection program, Patient Care VAT and SOP framework.
  • Utilize market tools (e.g., ECRI, Spend Link) to gain market knowledge and access best pricing for assigned categories; document savings and engage end users for process changes or product conversions.
  • Perform other related duties as needed or assigned.
Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Business Information Systems, Manufacturing Systems Engineering or a similar discipline from an accredited college or university required.
Experience Qualifications
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.

  • Knowledge of new technologies and staying updated
  • Knowledge of specialized medical and surgical supplies and equipment, primarily disposable
  • Knowledge of Sterile Processing and case cart systems
  • Adheres to HIPAA and BAA requirements; supports implementation of policies and procedures across the organization and coordination with Finance, Compliance, Office of General Counsel and Risk Management
