The Alaska Veterans & Pioneers Home is recruiting for a Pioneers Home Assistant Administrator.
The Mission of the Division of the Alaska Pioneer Homes Is: "Providing elder Alaskans a home and community, celebrating life through its final breath."
This position is a member of an outstanding nursing and direct care staff and plays a vital role in providing person-centered care and support in a safe environment for up to one-hundred seventy-nine (177) elder residents.

What You Will Be Doing : Manage resident care services staff, oversee the overall direct care of the residents, and assist the Administrator in ongoing planning, organizing, directing and coordinating all direct care activities. Focus will be on quality resident care, the growth, development, and empowerment of health care teams, and the promotion of assisted living philosophy and statutes.

Who we are looking for: We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:
- Healthcare Knowledge :
Comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulations, patient care standards, and medical procedures relevant to Assisted Living and Pioneer Homes. - Regulatory Knowledge :
Up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing Pioneer Homes. - Administration and Management: Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions, resource allocation, and production.

Skills:
Ability to inspire and manage a team effectively, fostering a positive and collaborative work. - Written Communication: Writes in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience.
Other Job Information:
- This position is in support of the Pioneer Home, a 24-hour elder care facility.
- This Pioneer Home is an Eden Alternative facility, where the environment includes contact with plants, flowers, and pets including cats, dogs, fish and birds.
- Employees of the Pioneer Home receive continual screening for tuberculosis and criminal history.

RequiredEducation and Experience
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in gerontology, nursing, health administration, a health-related field, business administration, or public administration.
One year of experience supervising professional and assistive staff in a health service program such as a residential care facility, home health care service, hospital, doctor's office, or similar experience in social or community service management.
- Completion of a Nursing Home Administrator-in-Training program will substitute for the required bachelor's degree.
- Three years of nursing experience and eligibility for licensure as a practical nurse or registered nurse with the State of Alaska will substitute for the bachelor's degree.
