Position: Assisted Living Aide/Certified Nurse Aide (PCN 027333M)

Overview

This position is open to Alaska Residents only. Please review the residency definition to determine qualification.

The Alaska Veterans & Pioneers Home is recruiting for an Assisted Living Aide/Certified Nurse Aide 1 position as part of the direct care staff. This is a multiple class position and will be filled based on the qualifications of the successful candidate and the needs of the organization.

Wage information:

  • Assisted Living Aide starting wage per hour: $19.19
  • Certified Nurse Aide 1 starting wage per hour: $21.69

This position is a member of an outstanding nursing and direct care staff and plays a vital role in providing person-centered care and support in a safe environment for up to seventy-nine (79) elder residents.

What You Will Be Doing

Provide high quality personal care to assisted living home residents in a warm, supportive, and caring manner. Following the resident’s Assisted Living Plan, assist residents with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and with transporting into and out of bed, wheelchairs, bathtubs, lifts, and using walkers and canes. Work as part of a team providing programs that promote physical well-being and relationships by involving residents in activities with meaningful person-to-person interaction with residents, family, friends and staff.

Working Environment

This job is located at the Palmer Veterans and Pioneer Home, 250 E Fireweed Ave, Palmer, Alaska. The home is an Eden Alternative facility, with access to plants, flowers and pets. The role works under the direction of a registered nurse within the direct care staff, providing assistance and personal care to residents.

  • Pioneer Home is an Eden Alternative facility with contact with plants, flowers and pets.
  • Employees receive continual screening for tuberculosis and criminal history.

    Special Notes

    Some positions may require background investigations and fingerprinting; some positions require operating State vehicles and possessing an Alaska Driver’s License. Some positions require evidence of being free from active pulmonary TB at time of hire and annual TB screening.

    Certifications

    For Certified Nurse Aide: eligibility/certification in the State of Alaska. If not certified, eligibility may be considered with conditional offer pending proof of certification.
