Wildland Fire Dispatcher 1/2/3 Flex Positions

Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forest & Fire Protection, is recruiting for multiple Wildland Fire Dispatcher positions in Palmer, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing

Provide critical intel and logistics support to protect communities from wildfire. Coordinate resources and information for initial attack and logistics operations as needed. Seasonal role suitable for students, teachers, or winter sports enthusiasts.

Wildland Fire Dispatcher 1 – Starting Salary $22.34

Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:

    Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

Equivalent to those typically gained by post‑secondary education and/or experience in radio dispatch, telecommunications, wildland firefighting, forestry field work, office clerical, customer service, warehouse, supply, storekeeper, or logistics.

Wildland Fire Dispatcher 2 – Starting Salary $25.21

Requirements:
Successful completion of a course of training under a formally established Wildland Fire Dispatcher 1 training plan with the State of Alaska, OR certification as an Expanded Dispatch Recorder (EDRC) and either Expanded Dispatch Support Dispatcher (EDSD) or Initial Attack Dispatcher (IADP).

Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides competencies in:

    Uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems, opportunities or manage situations.
  • Interpersonal

    Skills:

    Shows empathy, courtesy, and politeness; maintains effective relationships; handles difficult individuals.

  • Stress Tolerance:
    Deals calmly and effectively with high stress situations.
  • Telecommunications and Logistics:
    Knowledge of emergency communication operations, resource coordination, and accurate incident records.

Equivalent to those typically gained by post‑secondary education and/or experience in radio dispatch, telecommunications, wildland firefighting, forestry field work, office clerical, customer service, warehouse, supply, storekeeper, or logistics.

Wildland Fire Dispatcher 3 – Starting Salary $28.78

Requirements:
Successful completion of a course of developmental training under a formally established Wildland Fire Dispatcher 2 training plan with the State of Alaska, OR certification in one of the following:
Expanded Dispatch Support Dispatcher (EDSD), Initial Attack Dispatcher (IADP), Expanded Dispatch Supervisory Dispatcher (EDSP), or Aircraft Dispatcher (ACDP).
