definitionunder general direction of the assigned department administrator, or designee, provide district-wide computer systems administration, and technical and resource services in the installation, configuration, operation, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnosis of network services, wireless services, computer hardware, peripheral equipment, and software for pcs, apple and other desktop computers, mobile devices and computing platforms.
duties- provide central and itinerant help desk services for technology system and personnel.
- install hardware, software and establish access rights and security.
- diagnose technology hardware and peripheral equipment.
- install hardware and software, format hard disks, install disk operating systems, establish directory structures and perform related tasks.
- install technology devices, peripheral equipment, routers, switches, hubs, firewalls, network appliances, wireless access points, hardware and software upgrades.
- backup systems as appropriate; archive data; restore data as needed.
- provide user support training and assistance. Serve as a technical resource to other department staff. Provide technical leadership for technology systems configurations, installation, maintenance and diagnostics.
- oversee district security practices involving passwords, email, software, hardware and related resources. Perform virus scanning and maintain security software.
- under administrative direction, manage, plan and oversee district-wide operations of data networks, infrastructure, servers, user administration and support.
- serve as technical resource to other department staff.
- maintain accurate inventory of equipment and services.
- prepare support documentation.
- establish and maintain a variety of records related to responsibilities and generate reports as requested.
- oversee and participate in the operation, design and maintenance of related systems.
- safely operate and care for tools, equipment, and materials used in the diagnostics and installation of technology systems.
- stay current with all it policies, procedures and trends.
- perform related duties as assigned.
- graduation from high school or equivalent
- specialized training in computer operating systems, repair, computer administration; and
- a+ certification or equivalent
- two years of full-time experience in it help desk functions.
experience and education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the california commission on teacher credentialing.
examination informationthe examination components consist of a qualifying written multiple-choice examination, skills performance, and structured oral interview. The most qualified applicants will be invited to take the required exam and notified via email communication of the scheduled date, time, and location. A valid picture identification is required prior to admittance.
after the exam procedure concludes, an eligibility list will be established to fill future vacancies.

work schedulethis position typically works full-time 8 hours/day; 40 hour/week; and observes a 12-month work calendar.
salary and benefitsupon promotion to a higher paid classification, the salary rate is at least a one-step increase above the previous rate. The probationary period is 130 work days (not counting sick, industrial accident). seventeen (17) paid holidays that fall within the work year, pursuant to the district's collective bargaining agreement with california schools employees association chapter 296 (csea).
sick leave shall be granted in the proportion of daily hours worked. Vacation is earned at the prescribed rate as part of compensation, and does not become vested until after completion of the initial probationary period.
work environmentwork is performed primarily indoors in offices that are climate-controlled, utilizing standard modern office and computer equipment, and in environments that are subject to constant ambient noise and frequent interruptions. Incumbents walk outdoors to and from buildings/offices or a vehicle for required assignments; may encounter surfaces such as asphalt, concrete, slopes, curbs, uneven pavement and grass.…
