Staff – Manufacturing Engineer – Level 4
Lockheed Martin – Position located in Palmdale, CA
.
As a Staff Manufacturing Engineer, you will develop and optimize manufacturing processes and procedures to drive operational excellence. Leveraging expertise in materials, tooling, and process flow will allow you to define build sequences and ensure product quality, efficiency, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and refine manufacturing processes and build sequences based on materials and fabrication techniques.
- Evaluate equipment and tool performance to verify efficiency, reliability, and alignment with production requirements.
- Identify and resolve issues related to tooling, process capability, and production inefficiencies through root‑cause analysis and corrective action.
- Collaborate with design engineering teams to provide feedback on design concepts and specifications, ensuring manufacturability.
- Operate within a Model‑Based Engineering environment using platforms such as 3DX (3
DEXPERIENCE) and iBASEt Solumina to develop digital work instructions and manage process documentation. - Support cross‑functional initiatives to improve cycle time, cost, quality, and safety across manufacturing operations.
- Provide periodic off‑shift support as needed to sustain production and ensure continuity.
- Travel periodically to other sites or vendors for technical support and integration activities.
- Technical Aptitude:
Rapidly understand new technologies, systems, and integration challenges. - Hands‑On Expertise:
Comfortable with hardware evaluation, troubleshooting, and integration tasks. - Initiative & Independence:
Self‑starter able to manage tasks without close supervision. - Strategic Thinking:
Makes informed, data‑driven decisions with long‑term goals in mind. - Attention to Detail:
Maintains precision in documentation, process development, and execution. - Collaboration:
Works effectively with cross‑functional teams and external partners/suppliers.
- Experience with subsystem assembly and integration into first‑article complete air vehicles.
- Background in aerospace hardware development, integration, and manufacturing environments.
- STEM Degree with 5+ years of experience.
- Aircraft subsystem installation / integration experience such as fuel, hydraulic systems, and wire harness.
- Development / prototype / first‑article program support.
- CNC machining working knowledge.
- 3DX / Catia V5, Delmia software usage; PLM and ERP software proficiency.
- Works effectively within cross‑functional teams and with external partners/suppliers.
- Direct ownership and support of specific manufacturing operations as well as interface with production employees.
