OverviewNorthrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for a Facilities Construction Project Manager to oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects. The role serves as a liaison between project management and planning, the project team, and line management. Responsibilities include reviewing project status and budgets, managing schedules, preparing status reports, assessing project issues, developing resolutions, and monitoring progress with mechanisms for intervention and problem solving.
Responsibilities- Oversee and manage the facilities projects and construction activities and serve as liaison between leadership, program and other customers.
- Act as primary contact for facilities between customers and maintenance for equipment and machinery project activities.
- Gather, review, and finalize requirements data concerning facility or equipment specifications, company or government restrictions, required completion date, and construction feasibility.
- Plan, design, and oversee the reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities.
- Coordinate with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings.
- Prepare Scopes of Work and supporting documents for procurement of design and construction services.
- Review and estimate costs, including design, equipment, installation, labor, materials, construction, and related costs.
- Inspect or direct the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Manage and execute multiple facilities projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
- Forecast and report on project status, including key metrics for risk, cost, and schedule.
- Produce and implement risk mitigation and schedule recovery plans as required.
- Identify any tasks that will require special inspection and coordinate with customer and contractors.
- Coordinate and update the Air Force as required for projects, budgets, and schedule.
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED with 5 years of combined project management, facilities construction project management, or facilities management experience, or Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of experience, or Master’s Degree with 1 year of experience.
- Knowledge of construction‑related disciplines and ability to communicate technical approaches and findings clearly.
- Capability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance.
- Experience troubleshooting and solving issues related to mechanical systems, machines, or material assemblies with subject matter experts and suppliers.
- Experience preparing Scopes of Work and supporting documents for procurement of design and construction services.
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED with 8 years of combined project management, facilities construction project management, or facilities management experience, or Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of experience, or Master’s Degree with 4 years of experience.
- Knowledge of construction‑related disciplines and ability to communicate technical approaches and findings clearly.
- Capability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance.
- Experience troubleshooting and solving issues related to mechanical systems, machines, or material assemblies with subject matter experts and suppliers.
- Experience preparing Scopes of Work and supporting documents for procurement of design and construction services.
- Active DoD Secret clearance.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Understanding of the change management process.
- PMP certification.
- Demonstrated capability to perform assignments on time and within budget.
- Professional writing skills and ability to communicate with various levels of leadership, including presentation skills.
