Description
We are Lockheed Martin Aeronautics' Advanced Development Programs (Skunk Works®) in Palmdale, California, seeking a full-time Subsystem Design Engineer. Join our cutting-edge team to craft and refine aircraft subsystem designs, tackle technical challenges, and ensure flawless installations. This role involves developing and validating new designs, troubleshooting malfunctions, and collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Develop, test, and validate new and modified subsystem designs
- Troubleshoot system malfunctions to determine root cause and corrective action
- Create and maintain 3-D CATIA models, assemblies and installations, system requirements, interface/supplier control drawings, performance specifications, system checkout procedures and statements of work
- Create system requirements, trade studies, sub-component and flight test plans
- Coordinate with suppliers, internal and external integrated product teams, management and the customer
- Support manufacturing, ground/flight test and customer operating locations
Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in an engineering technical discipline such as Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical
- Experience with 3DX, CATIA, Solidworks, Pro Engineer, Creo, Unigraphics, NX, or equivalent 3-D CAD tool
- Experience creating and/or modifying drawings
- Experience with aircraft subsystem design, installation, and troubleshooting
- Hands-on engineering experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance per business requirements
- Experience with hand analysis for initial part layout
- Experience with metallic design
- Experience with tubing and equipment installation
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Active Secret Clearance
- 3 years of professional experience; or 1 year of professional experience with a related Masters degree

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time:
The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $70,100 - $123,625. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. The salary information is a general guideline only.
