THIS POSITION WILL BE POSTED FOR 15 BUSINESS DAYS. THE PORTAL WILL OPEN TO ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM MARCH 18, 2026 TO MARCH 27, 2026 AT 4:00 P.M. ONLY.

To perform a wide variety of general clerical duties and responsibilities in support of an assigned office or school site.

Responsibilities
  • Type a wide variety of documents including letters, memoranda, reports, bulletins, handbooks, questionnaires, requisitions, contracts, and other materials from marginal notes, rough drafts, or verbal instruction.
  • Serve as receptionist to students, teachers, District employees, and the general public; answer inquiries and furnish information requiring a knowledge of basic school standards, procedures, rules, regulations, programs, and policies.
  • Apply District policies and procedures in determining completeness of applications, records, and reports; provide information and forms to District employees, students, teachers and the general public; collect and process appropriate information.
  • Perform a wide variety of general clerical work including the maintenance of accurate and detailed records, verifying accuracy of information, researching discrepancies and recording information, maintain and post data relating to attendance, cumulative students records and other specialized records.
  • Register new students; obtain necessary documents and forms; input information into a computer; provide information to students and parents.
  • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Issue absence and tardy slips; prepare and clear daily absence lists; verify excuses and authenticity of absences.
  • Receive and reply to oral and written requests for information.
  • Assist in other areas at times of reduced office staff or peak periods including in the areas of school clerical and health assistance.
  • Operate standard office machines including typewriters, photocopiers, duplicating machines, telephones, postage machines, and calculators.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Experience: Two years of general clerical experience, preferably in a school/District office setting.

Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

Typing Requirement: 45 net words per minute. A typing test will be administered to verify typing speed.

Examination components consist of a qualifying written multiple‑choice exam, skills performance exam, and structured oral interview. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be required to take the exam and will be notified via email of the scheduled date, time, and location.

A valid picture identification is required prior to admittance. Tentative exam dates:
Week of April 1, 2026 (subject to change as needed).

Employment Information

Work Schedule: Typically works full‑time, eight (8) hours per day, 40‑hour work week, and observes a 12‑month work calendar.

Salary and Benefits: The salary rate for a new employee is at the first step of the appropriate five‑step salary schedule for this position. The probationary period is 130 work days (not counting sick, industrial accident). Upon becoming permanent, a one‑step salary advance shall be granted with future annual advances up to the fifth step of the salary schedule. The District provides and contributes to a comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, term life insurance) per contract year for each employee and eligible dependents.

Holidays and Leaves: Seventeen (17) paid holidays that fall within the work year, pursuant to the District's Collective Bargaining Agreement with CSEA. Individuals employed five (5) days a week for a fiscal year of service shall be granted twelve (12) days leave of absence for illness or injury, exclusive of all days not required to render service to the District. Vacation is earned at the prescribed rate as part of compensation, and does not become vested until after completion of the initial probationary period.
