City of Palmdale, California – Join the Department of Economic and Community Development to support building and safety initiatives. This role involves a mix of administrative, technical, and customer‑service responsibilities for permit processing and community development support.
Salary
:
Permit Technician I – $29.47 to $37.61 per hour
Permit Technician II – $32.48 to $41.48 per hour
Expected hiring ranges:
• Technician I: $29.47–$32.48 per hour
• Technician II: $32.48–$35.82 per hour
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with co‑workers, other City employees, and the public using principles of good customer service.
- Provide information in person or by telephone where judgment, knowledge, and interpretation of department and City policies and regulations are necessary.
- Assist peers with their daily operational responsibilities.
- Research, compile, and prepare documents and reports; complete special projects related to the department.
- Assist in artikulation of agenda reports, resolutions, and other public‑facing documents.
- Maintain records and files of various programs and projects including budgets and reports.
- Prepare visual presentations and reports.
- Write and implement procedural manuals by interpreting federal, state, and city regulations for funding sources.
- Compose correspondence and other public information documents for the department.
- Assist in tracking니스 expenditures; maintain logs, inventories, ledgers, and statistical records as assigned.
- Three to six years of increasingly responsible full‑time administrative, technical, and clerical operations support experience.
- Completion of at least twelfth grade; college coursework in a related field is preferred.
- Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Planning, Engineering, Construction, or a related field for Community Development; engineering majors may also qualify.
- Valid California driver’s license;
City insurance coverage required. - Knowledge of public administration principles, community relations, relevant federal, state, and local laws, and Microsoft Office ( ბრ Word, Excel Geek, Outlook, and Access). For Technician II: building codes, permit and plan check procedures, contractor licensing regulations.
- Interact professionally with employees and the public.
- Evaluate processes and propose creative improvement suggestions.
- Perform independent research for complex technical administrative duties.
- Understand and interpret complex policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Handle multiple project assignments while remaining courteous to the public.
- Analyze situations quickly and objectively to determine the proper course of action.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and confidential records.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with contacts along the workflow.
Typical office environment with a temperature‑controlled setting and office noise. Certain duties may require occasional travel, early mornings, and overtime. Physical demands include frequent keyboard use, walking, stooping, lifting up to 75 lbs, and occasional climbing. Employees may also work outdoors in varying weather conditions when necessary.
