RN Clinical Manager Observation Unit Full Time Days

Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385-bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and Level I Trauma Center with an innovative, patient-centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department. Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.

• Manage day-to-day shift operations in the Emergency Department at the unit level in a cost-effective manner.
• Promptly and fully investigate and resolve complaints from patients, visitors, staff, and physicians, advising management appropriately.
• Demonstrate the ability to respond and provide direction during crisis and emergency situations.
• Help employees understand difficult administrative decisions and access to patient information for treatment purposes.
• Provide leadership of the telemetry staff related to care of telemetry/progressive care patients and interventional cardiology protocols.
• Coordinate human resources activities, including evaluation, counseling, and hiring of staff; ensure current job standards and competencies; complete performance evaluations on time.
• Facilitate timely HR documentation, staff counseling/discipline, orientation, and ongoing education; maintain current records for all staff at unit level.
• Promote sound staffing practices based on benchmarking and acuity data; optimize staff mix and unit flow; coordinate attendance at orientation and mandatory continuing education.
• Assist in policy development, review, and revision; support department and organizational strategic plans; participate in quality improvement and PI initiatives.
• Assist with budgeting controls, labor and supply utilization, payroll reports, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, employees, management, and external agencies; act as a team member contributing to hospital goals and objectives.

• California RN License (current)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS Certification
• Must successfully complete EKG test within 30 days of hire
• Must successfully complete NIHSS within 30 days of hire
• Minimum of 3 years clinical experience
• Demonstrated clinical competence and leadership skills; professional presentation
• Preferred: previous management experience
