Job Type: Per Diem
Under the supervision of the Radiologists, the Ultrasound Technologist shall provide sonographic services to the patient. The technologist operates ultrasound equipment, develops film, and prepares rooms while maintaining equipment and supplies. The sonographer provides sonographic service in multiple environments including the Operating and Angio Suites, the patient room, the Emergency Department, and in the Department of Radiology. The ultrasound technologist s performance and behavior should reflect the mission and core values of the hospital.

Specific Duties
- Establish proper patient identity.
- Confirm physician orders.
- Ensure patient position, comfort and safety.
- Explain exam procedures to patients.
- Follow department exam protocols.
- Meet quality standards as established by the interpreting radiologist.
- Demonstrate clinical competence.
- Demonstrate initiative and timely completion of work assignments.
- Utilize appropriate transducers. Produce accurate and reliable studies.
- Utilize sterile technique, assist physician during invasive procedures.
- Properly use department PACS. Communicate with and observe patients.
- Log appropriate information on printed forms and worksheets.
- Deliver preliminary/STAT reports when required.
- Wear s while at work.
- When on call, provide appropriate response time.
- Accurately complete on‑call log sheets.
- Adhere to rules governing timeclock punches.
- Maintain department supplies.
- Participate in continuing education as required by the ARDMS and Tenet Corporation.
- When necessary, transport patients to and from the ultrasound department.
- Report equipment malfunctions. Maintain cleanliness of all work areas.
- When necessary, provide technical assistance to coworkers.
- Mentor students and less experienced technologists.
- Graduate of an accredited school of ultrasound technology.
- Registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) for each responsible scope of practice including at a minimum OB/GYN, Abdomen, and Vascular (see below).
- Must hold one of the following credentials in Vascular Ultrasound Technology:
- Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) provided by CCI.
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) provided by ARDMS.
- Vascular Sonographer provided by ARRT.
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification required (maintain current at all times).
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, physicians, visitors and other staff members.
