Physical Therapy Assistant – Desert Oasis Healthcare Job Summary
Provides Physical Therapy services within scope of practice and under the direction of a registered Physical Therapist and according to plan of care.
Qualifications- Associates degree from an accredited therapy program required. Current California certification meeting APTA requirements required. BLS required within 60 days of hire.
- Minimum of one year of PTA experience required. Previous home health experience preferred.
- PTA scope of practice.
- Proficient in computer use.
- Able to work under minimal direction and multi-task effectively.
- Communicates effectively with patients/families and all levels of the organization.
- Current drivers license and proof of insurance required.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
- Maintain member confidentiality at all times (HIPAA).
- Provides direct planned patient therapy services (within scope of practice) under the direction of a Registered Physical Therapist and according to agency policies and plan of care.
- Implements the plan of care as initiated by the Registered Physical Therapist and/or practitioner which establishes goals and incorporates therapeutic, preventative and rehabilitative therapy services as appropriate.
- Instructs patient and family in care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, prosthetic or orthotic devices, and/or any other assistive device(s) as appropriate.
- Provides health teaching to patient, and/or caregiver regarding treatment and plan of care. Education will utilize terms and teaching methods that are customized to the learning needs of the patient and/or caregiver.
- Communicates any changes in the patient condition or plan of care to the RPT, MD, team members and patient/caregiver.
- Provides accurate and timely documentation consistent with the plan of care;
This may include preparing clinical and progress notes as appropriate. Documentation will be completed timely and according to organizations documentation expectations. - Participates in team meetings, in-service programs, and case conferences as required.
- Weekend shift coverage as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
