Key Responsibilities
Emergency Patient Care
- Perform immediate assessments and prioritize patient needs using emergency triage protocols.
- Deliver high quality nursing care for patients experiencing trauma, cardiac events, respiratory issues, strokes, and other emergent conditions.
- Administer medications, IVs, blood products, and lifesaving interventions per physician orders.
- Manage airway equipment, cardiac monitors, wound care, and emergency medications.
- Respond quickly to patient deterioration, codes, and rapid response calls.
- Assist with resuscitation efforts and emergency procedures.
- Utilize strong clinical judgment in rapidly changing situations.
- Work closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, paramedics, and other emergency staff.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families during high stress situations.
- Participate in shift hand offs, team huddles, and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation in the EMR for all assessments, interventions, and treatments.
- Follow ED and hospital protocols, including infection control and patient safety standards.
- Maintain compliance with EMTALA guidelines, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific).
- Minimum 2+ years of recent ER experience, preferably in a high acuity or trauma center.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (TNCC preferred or required depending on unit policy).
- Strong emergency assessment, triage, and critical thinking skills.
- Experience in Level I or Level II trauma centers.
- TNCC, ENPC, or CEN certification.
- Proficiency with emergency equipment (e.g., vents, infusion pumps, cardiac monitors).
- Excellent communication and deescalation skills.
- Fast paced Emergency Department at Desert Regional Medical Center.
- High acuity patient population including trauma, medical, and psychiatric emergencies.
- Night shift - three 12 hour shifts per week.
- Requires frequent lifting, standing, and quick movement during emergency situations.
