The Living Desert is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Seasonal Food Service Cooks to join our culinary team. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment and are passionate about food, hospitality, and conservation. As a cook, you will prepare and serve high-quality meals and snacks to guests visiting the zoo, ensuring a positive and memorable dining experience.

• Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and food safety guidelines.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including grills, fryers, ovens, and prep stations.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and food prep areas.
• Assist with inventory management, including receiving and storing food supplies.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation.
• Collaborate with team members to meet service goals and respond to guest needs.
• Support special events, catering, and seasonal promotions as needed.
• Uphold The Living Desert's mission of desert conservation through preservation, education & awareness.

• Previous experience in food service or cooking preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen operations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Strong communication and time management skills.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts during peak seasons.

• This is a seasonal position with variable hours based on operational needs.
• Chef Coat and training provided.
