Generator Service Technician

Join Southern Home Services as a Generator Service Technician. Our residential HVAC, plumbing, and electrical company serves customers across the United States. We are looking for a service electrician who can install, maintain, and repair residential electrical systems and generator equipment.

In this role you will be responsible for diagnosing electrical issues, installing and servicing generator systems, performing routine maintenance on HVAC/R and electrical equipment, inspecting for safety compliance, troubleshooting lighting circuits, and providing high‑quality customer service.

• Understanding and working with electrical systems, motor control, and process control instrumentation.
• Conducting maintenance, service, and repairs on plumbing, carpentry, HVAC/R, and electrical systems.
• Assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical wiring and equipment for safety and proper operation.
• Performing light maintenance on electrical systems, plumbing, and HVAC/R units.
• Supporting repair and maintenance of manufacturing equipment, including hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
• Inspecting electrical systems and components for hazards or defects and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Diagnosing and repairing electrical malfunctions, particularly in lighting circuits.
• Other related duties as assigned.

• Generac Certified is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience in a similar role.
• Experience with generator systems.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques.
• Strong problem‑solving, written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized with strong task prioritization.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, public holidays, and evenings.

• Lifting 50–100 pounds regularly.
• Climbing ladders, accessing attics, navigating tight spaces, driving, entering crawlspaces, using hand tools, and performing fine detail work.
• Driving is required.
• Work in indoor and outdoor settings, including attics and crawl spaces.
• Standing, walking, sitting, and using hands for control handling.
• Stooping, kneeling, bending, and crouching frequently.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures and adverse weather conditions such as wind, rain, ice, or snow.
