• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want.
• Use all equipment in the bakery (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) according to company guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe using a variety of utensils and equipment.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; report discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand the store layout and locate products when requested by customers.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads; gain knowledge of products sold within the department to respond to questions and make suggestions.
• Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
• Promote trust and respect among associates; create an environment where customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of needed repairs.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents; work cooperatively in high-paced environments and manage conflict calmly.
• Demonstrate honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information; follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed.
• Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to obtain a current food handler’s permit once employed
