Job Summary:
This is professional workparticipatingin the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of District wide database environments.
Job duties include:- Installs, configures and maintains database engines, application servers and related core technology software. Configures operating system and software for optimal performance. Develops data loading and extraction processes and writes software for implementation. Implements new database application structures and make modifications to existing structures.
- Monitors performance of databases and related systems. Develops and implements recommendations for improvement. Analyzes database query performance and optimize SQL statements. Diagnoses and resolves database-related errors and provides support for end users and developers facing data issues.
- Defines, develops and implements user access control standards for databases. Provisions user accounts and permissions according to established access control standards and guidelines.
- Participates in the selection of data structure modifications to address data distribution changes to ensure optimal database performance. Acts as a lead technical resource for database projects assisting as needed in all phases of project from design and programming to operation and maintenance. Collaborates with developers to design new and modify existing database applications. Collaborates with customers and stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Reviews proposed database applications to ensure compliance with established database or software standards. Develops and tests database backup and recovery procedures and ensures compliance with business continuity standards. Assesses and implements new technologies in support of the Agency's program goals and objectives. Implements technology solutions following established standards for business continuity, change management, software development, and documentation.
- Relational database concepts; computer programming; practical business experience in designing and implementing applications and systems; performance tuning for relational database client/server applications; application development methodologies; structured analysis techniques; data modeling; data repository tools.
- Oracle Database and related tools and technologies;
Oracle Web Logic;
Microsoft SQL Server;
Postgre
SQL;
Linux operating system;
Microsoft Windows operating system.
- Document and clearly communicate through written and verbal skills; exhibit and maintain professional interpersonal skills with all levels of District staff.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or management information systems and four (4) years of experience in database administration of at least one of the following:
Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, Postgre
SQL, MySQL; including one year experience performing the physical design and implementation of a large multi-user relational database and three (3) years of experience with any variant of Linux or UNIX operating system (experience may overlap).
Or completion of a two-year program of study from a vocational/technical school or community college in computer science or management information systems and six (6) years of experience in database administration of at least one of the following:
Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, Postgre
SQL, MySQL; including one year experience performing the physical design and implementation of a large multi-user relational database and three (3) yearsofexperiencewith any variant of Linux or UNIX operating system (experience may overlap).
An advanced degree may substitute for aportionof the required experience.
Professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the requiredcollegeeducation.
Physical Requirements /Working Environment:General office environment:some travel (occasional weekend and evening work), hours worked over 40 in a single week earn comp time.
Licenses:Valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
Additional Details:Starting Salary Range:$77,272.00 - $
Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
