Working Title:
OPS FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER -
Basic social services and direct WIC Program Breastfeeding education, assistance and/or support to WIC participants in various location throughout Putnam County. This position requires specialty training to provide appropriate breastfeeding counseling for the WIC participant and family. The incumbent in this position will have authorized "need to know" access to confidential WC client records, Breastfeeding Data System, and the WC Data System.
Assignment of duty station, hours and days worked may vary based on agency/unit needs.
Promote breastfeeding as the normal, preferred method of infant feeding by providing basic research, research‑based information to pregnant and new mothers through peer‑to‑peer counseling. Refer any breastfeeding related problems to Designated breastfeeding expert/or Breastfeeding coordinator for further assessment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of basic arithmetic. Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness. Ability to organize and maintain filing systems. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Knowledge of office procedures and practices. Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous, and effective manner. Ability to lift 40 pounds (computers, etc.). Knowledge of software applications including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and ability to navigate the internet for research.
QualificationsMinimum qualification requires Microsoft applications knowledge and use.
with a preference to a WIC participant and Bilinqual English / Spanish speaking candidate.
