Job summary: The St. Johns River Water Management District is an environmental agency focused on ensuring a long‑term supply of drinking water and protecting and restoring water bodies in 18 counties in northeast and east‑central Florida. As an Information Technology Manager – Geographic Information System (GIS) Manager, you will lead the GIS operations while enjoying a professional culture with competitive pay and benefits.
Responsibilities- Supervise and develop GIS Section staff, establishing performance expectations, assigning and reviewing work, and providing coaching and mentoring to support professional development, cross‑training, and a collaborative team culture aligned with OIT goals.
- Manage GIS operations and service delivery, overseeing the daily operation of the District’s ArcGIS Enterprise environment in coordination with other OIT teams to ensure reliability and performance of GIS services, apply standard publishing and metadata practices, and monitor service trends and support needs.
- Lead GIS governance, data standards, and quality assurance by establishing and maintaining enterprise GIS standards, governance practices, and supporting documentation, overseeing updates to authoritative GIS Library datasets, ensuring metadata accuracy, and aligning data maintenance with District program needs.
- Identify and implement opportunities for automation and workflow improvement.
- Coordinate GIS projects, resources, and procurement by developing scopes, work plans, and technical specifications for GIS projects and contracts, managing resource allocation, vendor deliverables, budgets, procurement actions, and project documentation within the District’s project management system.
