Staff Nurse - General Surgery

• 37 hours per week, consisting of days, nights and weekends
• Effective 1 April 2026, the full‑time working hours for all Agenda for Change posts will be reduced to 36 hours.
• This is a Fixed term post for 1 year

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic band 5 Registered Nurse to join our passionate and dedicated surgical nursing team. This will be based in ward 20, a 30 bedded ward within the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

• Assessment, delivery and supervision of all care needs within the ward environment.
• Sound clinical skills for assessment of patient’s needs, implementation and evaluation of care that are evidence‑based.
• Work in a fast‑paced environment to a high clinical standard; forward‑thinking, flexible, and able to work effectively within a changing dynamic environment.
• Expand skills and knowledge across a diverse range of surgical patients with guidance and support; facilitate learning and education development.
• Responsible for assessment of care needs, development of a programme of care, and implementation and evaluation of these programmes ensuring the delivery of high‑quality care to patients within the ward environment.
• Work on own initiative, without direct supervision but also as part of the integrated team.
• Required to work within a flexible shift pattern of both day and night rotations and weekend working.
• Excellent communication skills and decision making with evidence of ongoing professional development.

• Currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC.
• Live NMC UK pin is required.
• Must possess excellent communication and decision‑making skills; evidence of ongoing professional development.
