The RoleWe have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic band 5 Registered Nurse to join our passionate and dedicated surgical nursing team. This will be based in ward 24, as a 30 bedded ward within the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
As part of the team, you will be responsible for assessment, delivery and supervision of all care needs within the ward environment. You will possess sound clinical skills for assessment of patient’s needs, implementation and evaluation of care which are evidence based.
You will have the ability to work in our fast‑paced environment to a high clinical standard. You are required to be forward thinking, flexible and able to work effectively within a changing and dynamic environment.
We can expand your skills and knowledge across a diverse range of surgical patients. Our team will guide and support you whether you are newly qualified nurse, or if you are just new to our ward/department and facilitate learning and education development.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern- Location based in Royal Alexandra Hospital
- Permanent Contract
- Full‑time position (37 hours per week)
- Shift pattern for this post are days, nights and weekends
- Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients to ensure delivery of a high standard of care
- Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives/carers and other members of the MDT to ensure that appropriate information is shared and patient needs are met
- Work within the defined policies, procedures, standards and protocols of the Division/Department and report outcomes to senior nursing staff to enable monitoring of standards of care
- Supervise/mentor less experienced staff/students who are providing care to patients and act as a source of advise to ensure their educational needs are met
- Organise own workload to ensure that the interests of patients/clients are met
- Responsible for maintaining patients records within agreed standards
- Registered nurse on the NMC register
- Adult surgical nursing experience
- Knowledge of surgical terminology & common surgical conditions
- Ability to fulfil criteria outlined in the job description
